How to check any snack
- Look for a gluten-free label. In the U.S. and Canada, it means under 20 ppm of gluten.
- Read the ingredients every time. Recipes change. Watch for wheat, barley, rye, malt and brewer’s yeast.
- Check the “may contain” line. A wheat warning means real cross-contact risk.
- Canadian bags can differ from U.S. ones, even for the same brand. Read the bag in your hand.
- At restaurants, ask about the fryer.
