What can you make with delicious Pillsbury Gluten Free Cake mixes? We’re going to take a closer look! But first, let’s take a look at what it is and the ingredients.

What Is Pillsbury Gluten-Free Cake Mix?
Pillsbury makes more than one gluten-free cake mix. They also have gluten-free brownie and chocolate chip cookie mixes, plus a gluten-free all-purpose flour. (Pillsbury baking mixes are now made by Hometown Food Company.) Their gluten-free cake mixes include:
- Gluten Free Classic Yellow Cake Mix
- Funfetti Gluten Free Cake and Cupcake Mix
Pillsbury used to sell other gluten-free cake flavors, but these two are the ones listed on their website now. You’ll find them in many grocery stores and online. For quick, easy bakes at home – these boxes are perfect. Especially as gluten-free cakes can be quite hard to come by.
Is The Cake Mix Really Gluten-Free?
Yes. Pillsbury’s gluten-free mixes are labeled gluten-free, and under FDA rules a food labeled gluten-free must contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten. They aren’t certified by an outside gluten-free program, and Pillsbury’s product pages don’t say whether they’re made in a dedicated gluten-free facility.
Pillsbury also makes plenty of products that aren’t gluten-free, so always grab the box that says gluten-free – the regular Funfetti mix looks very similar and contains wheat.
Ingredients In The Pillsbury GF Cake Mix
Let’s take a look at the ingredients you’ll find in your Pillsbury cake mix. Here’s what’s in the gluten-free Funfetti mix. The main ingredients are:
“Rice Flour, Sugar, Potato Starch, Candy Bits, Leavening, Pea Fiber”
plus small amounts of cellulose, tapioca starch, canola oil, salt, emulsifiers, xanthan gum, cellulose gum, flavor and citric acid. It contains soy.
As you can see, the main ingredients are rice flour, potato starch, and sugar – all of which are gluten-free and completely safe for consumption.
Pillsbury Gluten Free Cake Mix Recipes
Now to the part, you came to this article for! Naturally, you can make the cake mix that comes in the box and enjoy it as it is…or you can make something more exciting. You may want to make something for a special occasion for the gluten-free people in your life. Whatever you make, check that every extra ingredient – frosting, ice cream, baking chips, sprinkles – is gluten-free too. Pillsbury’s own recipe pages give the same reminder. Let’s take a look at some favorites for each cake mix!
Gluten-Free Funfetti Cake Mix
There’s a lot of ways you can make your Funfetti cake even more exciting. The first recipe is the Funfetti Ice Cream Cake. This recipe is available on the Pillsbury website. Is there anything better than cake and ice cream? Especially the gluten-free kind.
The only ingredients you’ll need for this recipe are:
- Softened vanilla or chocolate ice cream
- Heavy cream
- Vanilla flavored frosting
- Pillsbury Funfetti gluten-free cake mix (of course!)
While this cake does take a few hours (most of which it’s in the freezer, don’t worry!), it’s a great choice for a birthday cake or a special occasion; especially if you love your sweet stuff!
If you’re looking for a quicker Funfetti recipe that’ll be ready to enjoy in a much shorter time, why not try the Funfetti Cookie Cake? This is one I’ll be trying myself as it looks absolutely incredible! The ingredients you’ll need for this recipe are:
- Cooking Spray (non-stick)
- Butter
- Egg

- Pillsbury Funfetti Gluten Free Cake Mix
Funfetti cakes are a whole lot of fun (excuse the pun!) and perfect for all the family.
Gluten-Free Yellow Cake Mix
The yellow cake mix is really versatile and can be used for a plethora of recipes, including cakes and cupcakes. To have a bit of variety in our recipes today, I chose a cupcake recipe. Cupcakes are much more suited for an everyday cake and this 24 cupcake recipe takes no time at all. Pillsbury have an incredible Gluten-Free Frosted Almond Cupcakes using their gluten-free yellow cake mix.
The ingredients you’ll need if you decide to make these cupcakes are:
- Almond extract
- Almonds
- Vanilla flavored frosting
- Pillsbury Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix
The great thing about these recipes are that many of the ingredients are the same, so the next time you’re wanting to make a cake using the Pillsbury cake mixes, the additional ingredients you need will likely be sitting in your pantry waiting to be eaten. What are you waiting for? Get baking!

Conclusion
We have only just touched the surface today – there are so many more recipes online and on the Pillsbury website.
In the future, I’m hoping Pillsbury gets its gluten-free mixes certified by an outside program, and brings back more flavors. Fingers crossed!
